Cinelab London showcases the best shortlisted UKMVA 2020 nominations shot on film
It is no secret that celluloid film offers a completely different artistic feel to a video, and in recent years, more and more filmmakers have turned to film as their creative medium of choice for enhancing the storytelling and emotional impact in music videos.
In 2019 alone, Cinelab London processed over 450 music videos encompassing the world’s largest artists and newcomers and in 2020, despite the challenging year, are happily seeing this trend continue.
Many of the music videos making the shortlist at this year’s UKMVAs have been shot on film on a combination of different film formats and stocks across S8, 16mm and 35mm formats. Film can create stunning original looks and music video directors enjoy drawing on the many creative photochemical tricks available to them.
CEO Adrian Bull says: “There are also multi-format projects (film and digital capture) and projects that have been through the our digital film process - for clients who, for practical reasons, have acquired on digital, Cinelab London can record your digital image files back to film and then scan this to create new digital image files, creating an authentic film look. We’re proud to have worked on so many of the shortlisted projects this year - huge congratulations to everyone nominated!”
